This page explains which personal data are processed when you visit Robben Island Guide, why, and what your rights are. Last updated on 12 October 2026.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Benicool Srl, Via Camillo Finocchiaro Aprile 31/5B, 16129 Genoa, Italy, VAT IT03032310991, REA GE-528219. For any request about your data, write to info@benicool.it or to our certified email benicool@legalmail.it.
What we collect, and what we do not
This site has no contact form, no newsletter and no user accounts, so we do not ask you for any personal data. We do not use profiling tools or third-party analytics. The fonts are hosted on our own server and the maps are drawn by us, so reading the guide does not send your data to Google or other services.
Technical data
Like every website, our hosting provider records technical data for each visit, such as your IP address, the page requested, the date and time and your browser type. These logs are used only to keep the site running and secure, and are deleted after a short period, unless they are needed to investigate an attack. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the security of the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Anonymous visit counts
To know which pages are useful, the site counts page views and clicks on the booking buttons with a small script of our own. It records only the page, the website you came from, the type of device (phone or computer), the language of the page and the date. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and keeps no IP address or other identifier, so the counts cannot be linked to you. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving the guide (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
When you book
Our ticket links take you to Tiqets and our hotel links to Booking.com. Everything you enter there, including your name, email and payment details, is collected by Tiqets, Booking.com and the tour operator or hotel, not by us, under their own terms. Links contain a code that tells the partner the booking came from this site, so that it can pay our commission. We never receive your payment details.
Google Maps
Some pages offer an interactive Google map. It is not loaded when you open the page: it loads only if you click "Show the interactive map". From that moment Google receives technical data from your browser and may set cookies, as an independent controller under its own privacy policy. The legal basis is your consent, given by clicking to load the map (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to their processing, or to receive them in a portable format, by writing to info@benicool.it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it), or with the authority of the country where you live.
Changes to this policy
If we add new services to the site, we will update this page and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.
